Testing of OKS garbage bags in accordance with the guidelines of the Swiss Association of Municipal Infrastructure (SVKI)

Orientation testing

The orientation test of garbage bags is carried out on at least 6 test items per test parameter. The test specifications are documented in cited standards or standardised work instructions (SOP).

For the orienting testing 2 rolls per product must be provided. If a test parameter is not met on the first roll (sample A), a further determination is made on the second roll (sample B).

The requirements for OKS garbage bags (official garbage bag) are documented in the guideline "Quality and design of refuse sacks (2015 version)" issued by the Swiss Association of Municipal Infrastructure (SVKI).

  • Costs for the orientation testing:
  • CHF 1000 per bag size

Full testing

The full test of garbage bags is carried out on at least 10 test items per test parameter. In addition, the volume of the bag and its transparency can be determined on request.

For full testing, 2 rolls per product must be provided. If a test parameter is not fulfilled on the first roll (sample A), a further determination is made on the second roll (sample B).

The requirements for OKS garbage bags (official garbage bag) are documented in the guideline "Quality and design of refuse sacks (2015 version)" issued by the Swiss Association of Municipal Infrastructure (SVKI).

  • CHF 1600 per bag size

For the tests, two rolls are required per product (bag sizes 17l, 35l 60l and 110l).

The test specifications are documented in cited standards or standardised work instructions (SOP). The SOPs can be provided on request.

How to get OKS certification

1. Testing

Testing of OKS garbage bags (product sizes 17l, 35l, 60l and 110l) is carried out independently and impartially by Ugra's accredited testing laboratory (STS 0455).

2. Certification

If the test report confirms conformity with the requirements of the OKS directive, the application for certification may be requested at the Swiss Association of Municipal Infrastructure (SVKI).

3. Monitoring

Ugra (STS 0455) examines twice a year (spring/autumn) the products of the manufacturers brought in the sales. The samples are collected nationwide in the retail trade.
